Presently in the world, a lot of people have a disease that will lead them to death. Fortunately, organ donation exists to help people to stay alive. By reading this text, you’ll be informed about organ donation in Canada and the Chain of life organization.

To start, six organs can be given. The heart, the lungs, the intestines, the liver, the pancreas and the kidneys. Also, some tissues can be given like bones, corneas, heart valves, etc. An organ transplant has to be done very quickly because the organ preservation time is generally really short. For example, the conservation time of the heart is between four and six hours. Everyone can be a potential donor, alive or dead. If you pass away, it’s your family who will decide if your organs will be given or not, even if you’ve signed your card. This is why it’s important to talk about your opinion on organ donation to your family, because it could help them to make a better decision for you.

Since a few years, there is an organization that informs Canada’s population and especially the secondary four students about organ donation. This is the Chain of life association, founded by Mrs Lucie Dumont. This organization informs people about what is an organ donation and what it involves in a person’s life. Also, Chain of life invites youth to talk about this subject to their families, because more people have to be informed on organ donation to save as many lives as possible.

Finally, organ donation is an important topic that we have to talk about. And you, what is your opinion about organ donation?
